By default, WordPress allows uploading of only certain file types. You can add or remove from the default list as needed.

Steps to Editing Allowable File Types in WordPress

  1. Go to Settings and select the Settings submenu.
Note: On a WordPress multi-site installation, you must be in the Network Admin area.
  2. Scroll to the bottom of the page to the upload file types field.
  3. It will display the following file extensions:
“jpg jpeg png gif mp3 mov avi wmv midi mid pdf”
  4. You can add additional extensions to this list to allow uploading of additional file types. Separate each file type with a space.

After making this change, you should be able to upload the additional file types. On a multi-site installation, you need only make this change once and it will apply to all sites.
