If you have a FaceBook app on your phone, the contacts in your address book were probably imported to FaceBook without your knowledge. This upload includes your contacts’ phone numbers! It includes all contacts,..even those that are not your FaceBook friends.

To remove the contacts that were automatically imported:

  1. Log in to your FaceBook account.
  2. Click on the Account menu in the upper right corner and select Edit Friends.
  3. In the left hand column, click on Contacts. All of your contacts will be displayed.
  4. In the right hand column, click on the text link to remove all imported contacts. This removes the contacts pulled from your phone, leaving only your friends on the list.

Your contacts may be re-imported if you re-install the FaceBook app on your existing phone, upgrade the FaceBook app on your existing phone, or install the app onto a new phone. Be sure to repeat these steps to protect the privacy of the people that are stored in the address book of your cell phone.
